How many times are you in the middle of shooting some great video on your smartphone, and you think, wow – I wish I could take some stills as well. This set up would make a REALLY GREAT PIC!
Well you can!
So many people just don’t realise that you CAN do both at the same time on your smartphone.
You could be shooting:
- Your café
- A beauty product range
- A coaching tutorial
- Your Black Friday promo
- Your team at an event
Don’t worry, it will work!

One thing you do need to remember is that if you capture a photo whilst recording video, the resolution of the photo is going to be the same as your video. For many of us, that is totally OK.
It doesn’t matter if you are on an Android or an iOS device, you can do it on both. I’ve got you covered below!
iPhone Instructions
Step 1: Go to your camera app and go into video mode.
Step 2: Tap the red button to start recording your video.
Step 3: Whilst you are shooting your video, tap the white round button that you would normally use and take a photograph.
Android Instructions
Step 1: Once you are in your camera app, go into video mode.
Step 2: Tap the white button with a circle inside to start recording video.
Step 3: Then to take a photo at the same time, just press the white round button to the right of your video button and there we go.
Pictures and video at the same time. Sorted.
Happy double shooting, everyone!
