How to animate portrait pictures, the easy way to amaze your audience

Feb 24, 2023

Have you seen those amazing pics on social media, where figures from history seem to come alive on screen?

Well check this out

It’s known as Deep Nostalgia and you can have a go too.

When you are editing up your videos, it’s always good to have a variety of footage to cut in

You can use:

B roll you have shot

Stock footage from online sites

Onscreen recorded screen grabs

You can shoot a move over a still photo

And now you can try out an animated portrait

These animated portraits can be created with contemporary photos you have on your phone, but where they are really having a moment right now, is when you want to load up and animate historical photos. It’s amazing to see what your great-grandfather would have looked like outside a static image.

If you do want to give this a go, then the MyHeritage app means you can take an old photo from your family album and the deep nostalgia technology will do a couple of clever things.

First, it will enhance any poor quality images or blurred images to increase the resolution.

It then applies a number of drivers to create a short high quality realistic style video where the person in shot can smile, blink and even move their head. The app will work on black and white and colour pics, and it can animate more than one face in a photo.

This means bringing your photos to life in a whole new video way!

The Heritage Live app is available for iPhones and android.

You can check it out as it offers a 14-day free trial and then charges as it is primarily an ancestry service.

Let me know if you find this amazing or too spooky for words!

Happy shooting everyone!
